DAGSTUHL SEMINARS ON NETWORKED LIVING

NEW RESEARCH AGENDA

The seminars held at the renowned Leibniz Center for Informatics at Schloss Dagstuhl in Germany are some of the most respected events in the international IT world. After two years of preparation, AIT hosted its first Dag- stuhl seminar attended by high calibre ex- perts on the subject of research agendas for networked living. This also served to highlight AIT’s status in the field of computer sciences. AIT Scientist Markus Tauber was responsible for coordination.

During the seminar scientists from a range of disciplines took a bird’s eye perspective on

new trends such as the Internet of Things, smart grids, smart cities, and industry 4.0 and the security, legal and social science as- pects involved. The goal is to ensure the best possible level of security and privacy within flexible, network-supported systems and or- ganisations. The results of the seminar will be published and will feed into the European research funding programmes. “Network se- curity is essential to the future of our increa- singly networked society,” stresses Helmut Leopold, Head of Digital Safety & Security De- partment at AIT. “Our research projects cont- ribute significantly to achieving this goal.”
